UConn School of Medicine and Health is located at the heart of Bioscience, Connecticut, which is a major State Program which the general assembly has supported throughout. It is based on the capital investment of almost $864 million as the program has been all aimed at catapulting the state as being a pioneer in the improvement of the state economy, development of bioscience, and creating some new jobs.
The mission of UConn School of Medicine
UConn School of Medicine enrolled in the session of 2023 with 110 medical students, which makes it to be the highest incoming class ever in their history. The class range has increased to almost 30%, which completely fulfils the pledge as under the pledge under Bioscience, Connecticut, for improving the potential healthcare workforce of any state.
It is playing an important role where it is advancing procedural information through biomedical, scientific, clinical, as well as behavioural, translational, or social research. Plus, it is also offering basic educational opportunities for education, patient employment, biomedical, public health, or the behavioural sciences citizens of Connecticut and the United States.
Vision
UConn School of Medicine has its vision that falls into the tagline of “excellent care through research, or education, and engagement,” education & participation.” They have been completely aiming to build a strong future for the coming medical doctor generation under the supervision of experienced and professional doctors.
Students will be able to meet their very first patient on day one of the school and get into the involvement of longitudinal care of various patients. This is all done through the primary care physicians having half-day sessions. The curriculum is fully aimed to produce doctors who are fully dedicated to ultimate patient care.
What is the Process of Student Selection?
All those students who are looking ahead to take admission in this medical college are curious to know about the medical college. The final selection of the candidates will be made through the admission committee, which will be based on the faculty. Faculty will be based on medical students, basic sciences members, or representatives from different communities.
The community will be considering the skills, qualifications as well as motivation, and character of the student during selection. All the applications which will be sent by the applicants are reviewed by the AMCAS team. The candidate has to send the supplementary application as well as recommendation letters and interview applications.
Plus, the committee body will also be examining the academic record as well as ratings of the candidate, which is scored in MCAT. Apart from the course work, development, intellectual growth, and extracurricular activities of the applicant will also be considered.
Applicants will be called for the interview throughout the whole interview session by means of a rolling admission pattern. All the decisions will be made over the discretion of the committee towards the candidates.
As the admission season will progress, some more candidates will be accepted by the committee as they will develop an additional understanding of the selection criteria. The committee should be establishing a complete list towards the ending of the admission cycle. As the new entrant class will start off, a new process of vacancies will open where applicants will be given a second chance to apply for the admission. Normally the process of admission stays high during the months of May and June in which maximum numbers of applicants can readily apply.
